Southern Classics Society is a friendly and informal, all-marque club for classic vehicle enthusiasts in the south of England

Who are we and what do we do?

The Southern Classics Society (SCS) has been in existence for over 25 years and during this time the club has developed significantly as a result of a dedicated committee chosen from within the SCS membership. The club has continued to flourish and provides a very friendly, convivial and easy going environment for like minded classic vehicle enthusiasts to meet up and enjoy the benefits of SCS and classic motoring.

Our membership is spread far and wide throughout the South East, with the core of the membership being located within the Sussex counties, Hampshire, Surrey and Kent. It is probably accurate to say that Southern Classics Society is now the largest multi marque classic vehicle club in the country - a decent accolade for twenty-five years of classic vehicle interest !!

As a club, we are always looking at new events and venues of interest for our membership and visitors alike. Our formal shows all have bolt-on attractions, which provide family opportunities; coupled with Drive-It Days and Breakfast Meetings etc. it really is a club that seeks out the very best for its attendees. Researching the current SCS Diary plus events held during previous years, via the website, will give you a flavour of the club's varied and interesting show seasons.

Membership Entitlement:

- Free entry* to all our shows throughout the year (usual entry fee is £5 per car per show) except the SCS Charity Event.

- Monthly Noggin & Natters
- Club arranged Drive It Days

* - some shows incur a very small entry charge for members, although we always ensure that there are discounts and / or special arrangements for exhibiting. Once a year we ask SCS members to pay an entry fee for the Charity Classic Vehicle Show, as all proceeds are donated to our two charities that the club supports; alignment to charities are reviewed on a regular basis.

Formal Shows:

SCS present a number of formal shows during its season and these are held in the Sussex counties. As mentioned all our shows have additional attractions and these venues are reviewed yearly ensuring that new locations are added frequently.

Our shows are open to all members' classic cars ( visitors' cars built before the year 2000 only, please), so there is normally something for everyone at our shows. We regularly have an excellent display of British, European and American vehicles along with very interesting commercial and military transport.

Prizes are awarded for decade winners and runners-up along with other prizes such as best club stand and highly commended, so there is plenty of opportunity to win a lovely trophy !!

Many other classic vehicle clubs attend our shows and SCS are more than happy to provide a "club corner" for such memberships to present their vehicles as a display.

Social Events:

In addition to our event calendar we have an active social scene, the club hosts a monthly "Noggin & Natter" at The Bull Pub, London Road, Henfield, BN5 9AD. These informal gatherings, following on from the committee meeting, are well attended and provide an ideal chance to meet fellow SCS and committee members to discuss the club, events and raise any new ideas.

The Noggin's are open to non-members as well, so please feel free to come along.

The social scene continues with Drive-It Days of which the club runs three or four, a mid-summer BBQ, a number of Breakfast Meetings and we conclude the year with a superb Christmas Dinner which is always booked in full and quickly !!

How do I join:

Membership is available as either Single or Joint. Joint gives you an additional voting right at the AGM and also provides free entry to our shows if you have a second car.

SCS membership tends to hover at around the 600 members mark.

Membership fees have remained constant over the last few years and currently stand at £15 and £17 for Single & Joint respectively; with membership running from January through to December.

You can join at any of our formal shows and you will find the Membership Secretary at the SCS marquee. If you subscribe after paying at the show entrance, your entry fee will be absorbed in to your membership fee. If you join SCS towards the end of the season (last two shows) your membership will be rolled over until December the following year - please see Membership Secretary for further details.

You can also join at any of our other events and needless to say you can subscribe online by accessing the following pdf link:
